I’m Lena Nozizwe Reporting
Let me be the first to show you Keffe D’s prison mugshot.
Remember when I told you, weeks ago, that the man accused of murdering Tupac Shakur had been moved from the Clark County Detention Center to prison to serve time for his involvement in a jail beatdown?
Here are more deets about his new digs.
High Desert State Prison is the newest and biggest prison in Nevada. As the name implies, the high security correctional facility is located in the middle of high desert, less than an hour away from Keffe’s former jailhouse accomodations in Las Vegas.
The prison also has a Death Row–and I’m not talking about a record label. But that’s one thing Keffe won’t hafta worry about. From the get-go the prosecution decided not to put the death penalty on the table–something I predicted even with the “confession.”
As Keffe awaits his trial next February (not spring) for murdering Tupac Shakur, the maximum security prison will be home.
His custody level is close.
What does that mean? Close custody in Nevada is mandated for offenders with a history of violence, escape, or conspiracy to escape.
Keffe has either been assigned to a double or single cell. And he’s separated from the general population. There is the strong possibility he will be restrained every time he leaves his cell.
And every time he comes into Las Vegas for court he will be restrained.
Close custody is a step below maximum custody if that’s any consolation.
